Church Closure – Dec. 9, 2020

Important Parish Update – Dec. 9, 2020

Greetings beloved brothers and sisters,
This is with a heavy heart that I’m writing to you this Wednesday morning.
Initially, I planned to reach out to you today to inform you that all the results from the possible exposure to Covid-19 from our staff last week came back negative. We got the last test result on Tuesday morning.
Unfortunately, this morning we learned that there has been another possible and more serious exposure to Covid-19 among the staff. Of course, the individual involved will quarantine and get tested. But, because of this, we have no choice but to again close the Parish Office and the Church until further notice.
After much consideration, thought, and prayer, and because of the situation in Yavapai County and the recent spike in Covid-19 metrics, the Vestry and I had already made the decision that the in-person services for December 12 and 13 will be canceled. An online service will be offered.
According to the Diocesan Covid guidelines (Gathering for Abundant Life: Arizona Church and Worship in the Time of Covid-19) to stay in Phase II we need to be sure that the External Indicators of the Arizona Department of Health guidelines for safe school openings are met in Yavapai County. The 3 indicators have been in the red zone since November 15. You can look this up at https://www.azdhs.gov/preparedness/epidemiology-disease-control/infectious-disease-epidemiology/index.php#novel-coronavirus-schools.
More information will follow, at a later time, about what this means for St. Luke’s going forward.
In the meantime, please, be careful, look after one another, and stay safe. You all remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Your brother in Christ,
Pierre-Henry
